Double Cleansing - To do or not to do?

Double Cleansing - To do or not to do?

The double cleansing method, which is a deep cleanse of your face, is here to stay, unlike other skincare trends that come and go.

So, what’s double cleansing?

Simply put, it’s a two-step cleansing routine that involves:

  • An oil-based balm to remove makeup, pollution, and grime
  • Next, a water/gel-based face wash to get rid of sweat and any remaining oils

After a long day at work, running about the city, and socialising with friends, you might be lazy to do skin care. While occasionally skipping your night skincare routine is still okay, not cleansing your face is a huge mistake especially if you’re wearing makeup!

Throughout the day, our skin is constantly subjected to environmental stressors such as heat, pollution, and dust. All these factors lead to premature ageing and dull-looking skin. A deep cleanse routine is a skin reset - removing all makeup or dirt that accumulates inside the pores.

Why must one cleanse twice?

Double cleansing helps to unclog pores, ensuring that skincare products like serums and moisturisers effectively absorb into the skin. To build a healthy skin barrier, it becomes extremely important to regularly exfoliate the skin as well.

Step 1: Off-Duty Cleansing Balm

Skincare ingredients in Off-Duty Cleansing Balm such as Vitamin E and Barberry oil support the skin in combating free radical damage brought on by the sun and pollution. It melts pollution, dirt, and sunscreen and preps your skin for step two of the Double Cleanse method. Instead of stripping the skin dry like most traditional makeup wipes/micellar water, Cleansing Balm works gently and nourishes the skin. It could be challenging to take off makeup, especially if you are using liquid lipstick or eyeliner that is transfer- and water-resistant.

Step 2: Off-Duty Cleanser

It can also be used as a stand-alone face wash calms, soothes and hydrates the skin. It contains Aloe Vera extract, Green Tea, Azelaic Acid and Alpha Arbutin which exfoliates the skin by removing dead skin cells, fights acne and pigmentation and improves skin texture. Paired with the Cleansing Balm, Off-Duty Cleanser rinses away water-based impurities and excess oils.

Following a deep cleansing routine, the skin is left not only very clean but also visibly healthier: it regulates sebum production, minimises the look of pores and brightens the skin over time.
